Frequently asked questions.

Why do you use your own name and not a company name?

I am very proud of what I do and like people to know who I am. Also as you will be employing me, David Hardwick, I can't just go bust like a company.

Why do you not send out any brochures?

The minimum quantity I can order at a reasonable price is five hundred. This would mean I would have to increase the cost to the customer. It is a lot cheaper to post some of my work on the internet and to show the customers some finished examples when I meet them. (I would need to reprint the broachers every year to show my work).

Do you have a shop or a studio?

I work from my home office which is a converted garage attached to the house. This way I do not need to make the money to pay for rent, heating etc. the saving is apparent in my prices.

Are you a member of any UK body such as BPPA, SWPP? (Members of a regulative body are usually high quality professionals)

I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society, the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers and the British Professional Photographers Associates. I also hold Licentiateships of the Royal Photographic Society and of the British Professional Photographers Associates.

How long have you been photographing weddings?

I have been a photographer since the early eighties and covered a few wedding back then. Over the past 12 years I have built up my business and ended up specialising in wedding photography.

Do you offer traditional and reportage style wedding photography?

Most of my style of photography is natural and relaxed for much of the day, I always take a number of formal and family photographs as well as the larger group pictures including any requests that I get asked to do.

How many photographs will you take on the day?

There is no limit to the number of photographs I take - I will take as many pictures as there are opportunities. The quantity might depend on the size of your wedding, time available, the location and the weather.

Do you retouch or enhance the pictures?

Every care is taken to ensure your pictures look as good as they can. All images are individually colour balanced, density and contrast checked. I retouch and enhance all images where I feel necessary. I do not charge extra for this service. I can also provide special effects for the final print such as spot colour, black & white or sepia.

Will you visit the venue before the wedding day?

I have a working knowledge of many of the local venues. I always try to meet up with you at the venue to get to know you and go through any ideas. I also use the internet for additional research.

Do you charge a fee if the wedding and reception are in more than one location?

I do not charge to attend different locations. I do not charge travel fees, hourly rates or VAT.

What kind of cameras do you use?

I use top of the range Nikon D4 and D3 with the top of the range lens and flash.

Do you have public liability and indemnity insurance?

Yes I do.

How do we book you?

just call me on 01384 821599 or email me (d1@blueyonder.co.uk) or use the contact page. I like to see everyone that I am going to work with. I always call round to see you at your home.
